Programme Objectives

  1. Encourage students to think independently and creatively, and to become autonomous learners for life-long learning;
  2. Cultivate students’ interpersonal and communication skills in preparation for them to take up leading roles in their careers;
  3. Instill students a strong sense of social responsibility and high commitment to be upright citizens;
  4. Provide students with a solid foundation of the theoretical and practical knowledge required in the areas of Philosophy, Politics and Economics;
  5. Enhance students’ awareness of the multifaceted nature of contemporary public affairs and policies;
  6. Nurture students’ analytical skills through exploring and evaluating the cause, transformation, and significance of contemporary public affairs;
  7. Hone students’ problem-solving skills to devise innovative solutions in intellectual and professional contexts.

Programme Intended Learning Outcomes

  1. Critically analyse and explore complex information, ideas and concepts and take different perspectives to solve problems independently;
  2. Possess effective social and interpersonal skills to work with others, and establish and manage good relationships to enhance individual and team collaborations;
  3. Evaluate own contributions and responsibilities in becoming responsible citizen in a civil society;
  4. Identify the principal theoretical approaches and the main currents in the study of PPE, and the relationships between them;
  5. Evaluate contemporary public policies and related issues with an interdisciplinary approach;
  6. Apply formal and informal techniques, including quantitative and qualitative methods and method of logic, to analyze theories and data in the study of PPE;
  7. Conduct integrative research and final year projects on public issues and problems.
